What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Cluster Manager to oversee the smooth running of multiple branches within the region.
This role is being advertised as part of our wider recruitment strategy. While we are currently recruiting for individual Branch Supervisors, we’re also open to appointing a Cluster Manager to lead across multiple locations where this better supports our operational needs. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to take on multi-site responsibility in a dynamic and rewarding leadership role.
You’ll play a key part in driving operational standards, coaching teams, and maintaining service excellence while reporting directly to an Area Manager and working closely with our HR team.
As Cluster Manager, you’ll:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of several Post Office and retail branches
Provide ongoing coaching, supervision, and performance support to staff
Work a proportion of your time on the counters, which could also include stepping in to cover shifts or support teams during busy periods or staffing gaps
Ensure compliance across all branches, including audits, cash handling, stock management, and Post Office regulatory checks
Maintain high standards of service, presentation, and operational efficiency across your cluster
Plan rotas and coordinate shift cover across the branches
Plan rotas, arrange shift cover, and manage basic HR tasks, such as timekeeping, managing sickness and performance, and staff support, with guidance and frameworks provided by our HR team
Act as the first point of contact for escalation from branch staff, and the direct link to the Area Manager
You may also be required to support with formal processes such as absence management, performance reviews, and disciplinary hearings across the South West branches. In most cases, you will act as the second manager present during formal hearings, working alongside the Area Manager, Branch Supervisor or HR representative to ensure a fair and consistent process.
Supporting recruitment efforts across the company, working alongside the Area Manager to identify staffing needs, participate in the recruitment process, and onboard new starters where appropriate.
Assisting with onboarding of new employees, ensuring they are inducted into company policies and procedures, and that they feel supported during their early days with the company.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has at least 2 years’ experience in retail, banking, or Post Office operations
Has experience supervising teams or managing multi-site operations
Is confident with compliance, cash handling, and regulated services
Is a strong communicator, organiser, and team leader
Can work flexibly across different branches as required
Is physically fit enough to lift and move parcels when needed
Has the right to work in the UK
Can pass an enhanced DBS check
