Community Outreach Post Office Assistant (Driver)
Contract: Part-time (Monday to Wednesday), Permanent
Location: Outreach sites in Langton Matravers, Corfe Mullen, Winterborne Kingston
Base Branch: Swanage (rarely required to attend)
Travel: Required — mileage paid for use of your own vehicle
DBS Check: Enhanced DBS required
Experience: Minimum 2 years retail, Post Office, or banking experience preferred

What’s the role?
This is a rewarding hands-on role that combines retail, Post Office service, and community outreach. You’ll be based on the road Monday to Wednesday, visiting key outreach locations in your own vehicle, with mileage reimbursed.
You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating portable Post Office equipment, delivering excellent service, and maintaining high standards — all while working independently but with the support of a wider team.
You will:
Drive to outreach sites and set up the Post Office mobile kit
Serve customers with a range of Post Office transactions including mail, banking, identity checks, and bill payments
Handle cash, card, and cheque transactions with accuracy and care
Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and calm support to all customers — many of whom are elderly or vulnerable
Operate safely and securely, following all Post Office procedures and compliance guidelines
Carry out basic troubleshooting of mobile Post Office kit where necessary
Represent South Coast Retail with pride, professionalism, and a positive attitude
We’re looking for someone who:
Has at least 2 years’ experience in retail, Post Office, or banking
Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a reliable personal vehicle
Is confident working independently in a mobile/outreach setting
Is friendly, patient, and community-minded
Has good communication and numeracy skills
Can lift and carry outreach equipment (physical fitness required)
Is eligible to work in the UK and able to pass an enhanced DBS check
